Who is You are techY?
We help moms (and women) gain the skills and confidence to find a high paying, flexible job in tech. We do this through our unique learning formula combining courses, coaching and community to help moms build the skills they need to get hired. Our community offering supports learning through peer-to-peer learning, as well as mentor support.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for 2 -3 UX Design mentors to support our women-new-to-tech community who align with our anchors of passion brand, apprenticeship model, stop learning everything and unexpected value.
When are we looking for UX Mentors?
Ongoing, but specifically hiring 2 -3 positions in January 2021.
Are you a good fit?
Ever-positive in your language, you sincerely desire to see the success of others. You will guide them with your knowledge and expertise, through the lens of the You are techY mission and values. We use the apprenticeship model of teaching to help others learn, as well as coaching to help them create deliverables before they feel ready. That means they are being vulnerable with their work product and your feedback should reflect that vulnerability. We don’t care what gender you are, provided you are supportive of growing the female-held position of the technology workforce which currently stands at 20%. You have a plethora of UX knowledge from which to pull from and have years of experience within the industry. We are open to those with newer experience (2 – 5 years), as well as those with decades of experience. Our goal is to provide a diversity of experience levels to help our students.
What is the commitment to become a You are techY UX Mentor?
Please note this is not a full time position, nor will it be in the foreseeable future. We are looking for people who currently work as UX Designers to provide professional, supportive feedback to our members. We are offering direct access to non-competitive talent, the ability to interact with an inspiring community and the opportunity to change lives. This is a paid position based on experience and value.
How many hours per week?
The hours vary and we are open to mentors limiting their hours, however, they will likely not be overwhelming. Most mentors can plan to provide feedback 1 – 2 hours per week. We do ask that you are active in the community multiple times per week.
