Whether you have minimal coding experience or hate it and never want to learn, you have a shot at landing these tech jobs that don’t require coding.
First of all, let me just put it out there: Everyone can and should learn to code. BUT you don’t have to know how to code to get a job in tech. Many tech jobs require ZERO coding knowledge!
How can that be? Because software is a big job. It takes many hands to understand the user, create graphical elements, test the software, mobilize the team, know the market, prioritize the tasks… There are many more jobs that are needed to support software too, like selling the software, supporting customers, educating the organization and customer about the software. With so many opportunities in tech, there is a tech job for you. (Take the Quiz to find out which one is right for you!).
Are there really tech jobs that don’t require coding?
Yes! Meaningful, flexible, well-paid work can be found in tech, which means that even if you are intimidated by coding or software, the benefits should have you busting through those fears.
For example, tech pays. Tech has the most opportunities for growth and higher starting salaries than any other industry.
Also, flexibility is inherent in the industry. Most work can be done at least partially remotely and because of the always-on nature of tech, there are many opportunities for different work hours. And, the work involved in software development is supremely interesting. With the interplay between people and technology, there is always another layer to uncover.
Another benefit of having a role in tech is the diversity of opportunities. From graphic design to leading the team in a daily stand up (meeting), there are so many different ways to contribute to building great software — there most definitely IS a job in tech that you will find meaningful and interesting.
There are lots of opportunities in and around software that do not require coding but in my last blog, I wrote about how knowing a little code can only help. Knowing how to sling a little code can benefit you and the organization, but don’t let not knowing code be a barrier to finding the role in tech that is right for you.
